      Due to increasing client demand, we recently started our application engineering department. Most of our clients are vehicle manufacturers and are looking to convert their products to full electric including scooters, motorbikes, go-carts, tuk-tuks, generators and even agricultural machinery and many more in the future!

      Saietta Applications Engineering now offers the full vehicle conversion service from the design stage through to parts procurement, the actual conversion and the testing on 20 miles of private test tracks in Upper Heyford, Oxfordshire.

      We have a fully equipped workshop with space for 4-5 simultaneous conversion projects and more space to expand in the future.

      We are looking for a motivated hands-on technician/coordinator to take charge of this workshop and who, like us, will get excited to convert existing petrol-powered vehicles to full electric.  When the conversion is completed, you will be responsible to test the application and fine tune the prototype to meet the clients’ expectations.

      The ideal candidate will be working with an extremely experienced and capable team that have built demonstrator vehicles and drivetrains that have set multiple worlds Firsts and records on land, sea and air. As the workload increases, you will be able to expand the technician team further.

      Key Responsibilities will include:

      • Responsible for all the incoming prototype projects planning including timelines, resources and project milestones.
      • Hands on work (assembling, fabricating etc.).
      • Responsible for requests for quotes for components and supplier selection.
      • Responsible for continuous improvements of existing systems in support of the Applications Engineering department.
      • Follow guidelines set forth by the Client Organization and/or vehicle regulations standards.


      • 10 years prototype experience preferred.
      • Vehicle testing experience for both bikes and cars is essential.
      • Knowledgeable in mechanical and electromechanical systems is essential, experience in electric drivetrain would be advantageous.
      • Battery management knowledge is preferable.
      • The ability to simultaneously manage and coordinate projects for different products from different clients.
      • Strong interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written in English.
      • Ability to foster resolutiona to problems and issues.
      • Strong computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office is essential.
      • Highly self-motivated with a proven record of delivering multiple projects simultaneously within agreed time, budget and quality parameters.
      • High quality network of possible local contractors/full-time technicians would be an advantage.



      To join our small and friendly team of 36 people, we are currently looking for a Mechanical Technician who will assist us with many aspects of the development and manufacture of our products.  This involves working collaboratively as part of a team on a variety of tasks that will help us realise ongoing improvements to our motors, controllers and associated tooling and processes.

      Although experience of working in a similar environment would be advantageous, what we are really looking for is a motivated, competent person able to demonstrate technical abilities and with a drive to deliver in all aspects of work every day. The right attitude and mindset will be the main deciding factors for this position!

      Key Responsibilities will include:

      • To work with and supporting our Engineering team; prototyping, building and testing products, test equipment and tools.
      • To engage in the assembly of various components (motors, armatures, controllers etc.).
      • To agree and deliver project targets to a high standard and on time.
      • To both identify the need for, and undergo any training that may be required to complete projects to the highest standard.
      • To be able to follow internal standards and procedures including quality related requirements.


      • Some technical abilities: general mechanical understanding and competence with tools.
      • Have a ‘hands on’ and ‘can do’ attitude.
      • Flexibility to adapt to different tasks.
      • Be open to change: both temporary priority-driven change and longer-term change arising from procedure development.
      • Display the ability to identify and resolve problems and issues.

      We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to manage and carry out the design, prototype, test and release of all projects assigned to them as Project Lead in accordance with agreed development plans. We need a motivated individual, ideally passionate about our industy, with a proven record of successful project delivery.

      Key Responsibilities will include:

      • Design and develop new product concepts from initial ideas to production release.
      • Estimate and control the budget requirements for the project.
      • Use all relevant documentation to record and manage the projects from cradle to grave.
      • Agree and deliver project targets to a high standard and on time.
      • Creation of precision engineered parts and drawings to the latest standards.
      • Update BOMs within the project area.
      • Manage and participate in the manufacturing of project prototypes.
      • Manage and participate in the testing of design concepts.
      • Liaise and attend project review meetings to update managers on development through the project.
      • Liaise and attend meetings with other company functions necessary to perform duties and aid business and organisational development.
      • Suggest and attend any training that may be required to complete projects to the highest standard.
      • Help maintain and support any software supportive to your role.


      • Undergraduate degree in Mechanical or Automotive engineering.
      • Experience with 3D and creation of drawings (Solidworks preferred).
      • Experience of electro-mechanical systems would be an advantage.
      • Broad knowledge of materials and manufacturing methods.
      • Experience of mechanical FEA analysis tools and packages.
      • Knowledge of electric drive trains is an advantage.
      • Experience of providing novel solutions to complex design issues.
      • Experience of Managing Project from cradle to the grave and evidence of achieving target requirements on cost and on time.
      • Sound understanding of safety requirements.
      • Good problem solver with high attention to detail.
      • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team.
      • Methodical and focused personality.



      Saietta has an exciting industrial placement opportunity within our Engineering Team. The successful candidate will be working with experienced engineers in the design and development of motors and controllers aimed at the rapidly growing automotive powertrain industry. You will also have the opportunity to design a sophisticated semi-automated data acquisition system for motor and controller testing rigs with the support of experienced engineers.

      The placement will be for 1 year starting in the summer of 2018.

      Key Responsibilities will include:

      • The use of a wide range of test equipment.
      • Perform detailed characterisation testing of motors and controllers.
      • The production and release of documentation.
      • Investigation into issues and failures.
      • Assistance, where required, in all general activities.
      • Perform electronics design activities, including: schematic capture, PCB design and layout, BOM generation.


      • Candidates should be studying towards an Electrical/Electronic related degree.
      • Have a ‘hands on’ and ‘can do’ attitude.
      • Keen to learn.
      • A passion for the electric vehicle sector would be an advantage.
